Apollites & Daimons
Apollites are the cursed children of Apollo. He used them to prove that he was better than Zeus - until his children disappointed him. One day they killed his mistress and child and made it appear to be an animal attack. That day, he laid down a curse that all of his children should be banished to the night. Since they made it look like an animal attack, they should be animals as well, with a thirst for blood, fangs - and to become the predator. On their 27th birthday, they die a slow and painful death, disintegrating to dust until the sun finally sets. Apollites have bred with both their own kind and humans. Full-blooded Apollites cannot be in sunlight, they will burst into dust if they are. Half-bloods are born with varying degrees of sunlight intolerance and because of this, most half-bloods spend most, if not all of their life underground. Daimons (what modern-day humans would call "vampires") cheat the 27th year death sentence by taking human souls into their bodies. Once an Apollite has a foreign soul, it turns them into something other than what they were, something evil and uncaring. Any Apollite that takes a human soul into his or her body is instantly classified a Daimon. There's no real gray area there. They live in Kalosis with Stryker as their leader and worship the Goddess Apollymi in payment for her protection.
