World of the Hellchaser King
*He could not sleep. The bed he was currently lying in was too big and cold without his angel by his side. Especially when he knew she was so close. He wanted her. Needed her. Leaving the bed, Thorn walked out into the dimly lit landing. Karma's scent drifted down the hallway, teasing him. He wanted nothing more than to go to her. To crawl into her bed and simply cradle her against his chest. To comfort her. To feel her heat. Her soft skin. He had missed her.* You cannot fight this forever, angel. Nor can I. *Determination urged him forward. Thorn walked quietly down the hallway toward her room. He would not be deterred from this. However, as he past his daughter's bedroom, he stilled. Her sweet voice caught his attention. "dada" His heart clenched. Turning back, Thorn eased the door to Daisy's room open. She was standing against the rail of her crib, pointing toward the floor.* Ah, little one, you dropped your teddy. *Reaching for the fluffy animal, he took it to her. Daisy smiled, grasping his thumb as he placed the toy back inside her crib* 'Tis late, my love, you need to sleep. *Daisy made to protest, yet as he lifted her to lay her down, she yawned wide. Thorn smiled, stroking her soft cheek gently as he watched his daughter snuggle down with her teddy. She was so beautiful. So tiny. He still found it hard to believe that he had helped create her. Kneeling by the side of the crib, Thorn found himself unable to leave. He could not take his eyes from his young. His heart pained him every time the thought even crossed his mind. His guilt at leaving before was fresh and raw. How could he have been so stupid?* Daddy was foolish. I shall never abandon you again, little one. *In sleep, his Daisy turned her face into his palm and sighed. It almost killed him. So innocent. So pure. She was the goodness in his life, and he would do all in his power to ensure she stayed that way. Resting his chin on her crib, Thorn cupped his daughters cheek and watched her sleep until the morning sun breached the drapes.*
